Managing Performance

I do not have a huge library, so the more that this sweet lady (Maggie Bahou) talked today, the more I thought, "Well....now what in the world am I going to be able to get out of this? How can I use all of this amazing knowledge?" So I started thinking. I may have a small size staff, (3 including me) but that is not the only people that evaluate me and who I can evaluate. It has taken me a while to win over my Friends group, however now that I have I am going to use this to my advantage. They have been critiquing me this whole time and now I think it may be time for them to step up their game and start performing like the amazing friends group that I know they are.

  1. Managing the work performance of your Friends group or other volunteers is definitely applicable to today's lecture. You want your Friends group to be awesome in the way they help you, but they won't get to be awesome without some help and suggestions along the way.

  2. I think that is a great idea. Reminding your Friends group that they are here for the library helps them to focus on doing more to support you. Start asking for stuff. Make a wish list of things that would make the library an even better place if they work harder at bringing in the money for special projects. Make them feel needed!
